This section of BedfordToday is dedicated to the mayoral race, which will see determine who will be the next Mayor of Bedford.

Voters across the borough will make their decision on Thursday, October 15, and the result will be announced the following day.

The  poll follows the death of Frank Branston, Bedford's first elected mayor.

Since the election of Mr Branston in 2002 the mayoralty has been the most powerful position at Borough Hall. Mr Branston originally stood as a member of his own Better Bedford Party, and then as an independent, and headed a multiparty coalition that may or may not survive the election of his successor.
